Event Detail
Angkor Empire Marathon 2027 takes runners through the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park on Sunday 8 August 2027. Organised by Cambodia Events Organizer, this international road-running festival starts and finishes directly in front of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. The race is listed by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), and its dramatic heritage setting takes runners past forested stretches, villages and approximately 17 ancient temple complexes.
Course and start schedule
The full marathon (42.195 km) begins at 04:30, followed by the half marathon (21.0975 km) at 05:30, 10 km at 05:40 and the 3 km fun run at 05:50, all on 8 August (Cambodia time, UTC+7). The official event programme runs approximately until 11:30. Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before their starting time. The full marathon runs through ancient Angkor landscapes including roads near Angkor Thom and Banteay Samre, with generally level sealed surfaces and kilometre markers; the shorter routes take in different portions of the archaeological park. The organiser describes drinking-water stations at regular intervals, with electrolyte drinks and occasional bananas. Final course maps and any cut-off rules should be reviewed when the 2027 race guide is published.
Entry status and planning
The organiser currently lists early-bird entry from 17 January to 29 April 2027, followed by normal pricing from 30 April to 25 June 2027, but the registration platform is marked coming soon. Early-bird fees for Cambodian/foreign entrants are USD 35/65 for 42K, USD 32/55 for 21K, USD 20/40 for 10K and USD 10/20 for 3K. The organiser states that a 7% handling fee and VAT are excluded. Its page also retains deadline wording marked TBC, so confirm the final closing date and checkout total when the authorised 2027 entry link opens. Use the official event page for updates; the linked 2026 local-entry portal is for the previous edition.
Race-week arrangements
The race is held during Cambodia's warm, humid season, so participants should prepare for a pre-dawn start, manage hydration and plan transport carefully. The organiser describes race-pack collection and final confirmation in Siem Reap during the preceding two days, but the exact 2027 collection location and hours have not been reliably reconfirmed. A final bib-and-shirt programme, accommodation instructions, temple-area access, award categories and event-day route restrictions should be checked closer to the date. Past race materials mention medals and online race results, but the final 2027 participant entitlements have not yet been published. The organiser connects the event with local community and charitable causes, including support for children and people with disabilities.
All race times are Cambodia local time (UTC+7).
