Event Detail
The 2026 Ganzhou Marathon returns to Jiangxi province on Sunday 6 December 2026, bringing a major city road-running event to Ganzhou, a city known for its links to the Long March, Hakka culture and historic Song-era streets. This is the event's third edition, following its launch in 2024. The race is planned to start at Long March Square (长征广场) at 7:30 am China Standard Time.
Race programme and atmosphere
The programme includes a 42.195 km marathon and 21.0975 km half marathon. Contemporary race announcements report a planned field of approximately 6,000 marathon entrants and 15,000 half-marathon entrants. This is a substantial city-wide race, not a small local fun run.
The organisers promote the theme New Long March, Setting Out Again. It draws on Ganzhou's place in China's revolutionary history and the surrounding region's identity as an important orange-growing and Hakka cultural centre. Earlier editions have featured riverside stretches, links between older and newer neighbourhoods, and the city's distinctive architectural heritage. The previous edition's roads are not a confirmed 2026 course map. Participants should use the final organiser-published route, elevation and road-closure notices for training and travel plans rather than assuming the course is identical.
Entering the 2026 event
The announced pre-registration opened at 10:00 am on 14 October 2026, with a pre-registration, ballot and then payment process. Runners should use the official 赣州马拉松 (Ganzhou Marathon) WeChat account or the 果动赛事 (Guodong Events) WeChat mini-program for registration instructions. Submitting a pre-entry does not itself mean an entrant has secured a race place. Check the organiser's instructions for eligibility, ballot results and payment deadlines.
For race-week planning, Long March Square is the announced starting point. Arrange an early arrival and allow for temporary road closures and crowds in central Ganzhou. Detailed 2026 race-pack collection hours, final course maps, entry fees, start waves, cut-off times and confirmed finisher items should be checked against new organiser bulletins; older editions' arrangements are not guarantees for this year.
