Event Detail
Nanning Marathon 2026 is one of southern China's largest capital-city road races, with a planned field of 36,000 runners. The current organiser announcement confirms Sunday, 20 December 2026, with a 07:30 start in Nanning and two race categories: 12,000 places in the 42.195 km marathon and 24,000 places in the 21.0975 km half marathon. Current event listings place the start at Minzu Square in Qingxiu District.
The race has a long local lineage. Nanning's Liberation Day long-distance running tradition dates to 1983, and the city later hosted the 2010 World Half Marathon Championships. The modern Nanning Marathon has developed into a major annual road event and is listed on the current World Athletics Label Road Races calendar as an Elite Label race for 20 December 2026.
Current 2026 race-calendar material describes a broad, relatively flat urban course shaped by Nanning's "Green City" character, with sections associated with Minzu Avenue, the Qingxiu Mountain area and the Yong River corridor. The combination of wide roads, limited climbing and a large competitive field gives the event strong appeal to runners targeting fast road times as well as those travelling for a major Guangxi race. The final official 2026 route map and finish arrangements have not yet been published clearly enough to store as confirmed ARC fields.
Registration requires particular attention this year. The organiser originally planned to open entries on 6 August, but officially postponed the registration launch because of event-arrangement changes. As of 1 October 2026, the replacement opening date, final entry deadline and current-edition fees have not been announced. The organiser says updates will be published through the official Nanning Marathon website, official WeChat account and partner registration platform.
Race-pack collection, category-specific cut-offs, baggage arrangements, final aid-station details and the 2026 prize schedule also remain pending. Those details have deliberately been left unfilled rather than copied from a previous edition. Runners should check the organiser's current channels before booking around those logistics.
