Heung Yee Kuk 100th Anniversary Northern Metropolis Marathon 2026

The inaugural Heung Yee Kuk 100th Anniversary Northern Metropolis Marathon 2026 is a major new road-running event across Hong Kong's New Territories, created to mark the centenary of the Heung Yee Kuk. Around 15,000 places are spread across the full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 1.6K individual or family races.

The full marathon starts at the Heung Yee Kuk New Territories Building in Shek Mun and runs north to North District Sports Ground in Sheung Shui. The route follows the Tolo Harbour and Pak Shek Kok waterfront areas, passes Yuen Chau Tsai and the Lam Tsuen River, and uses the Fanling Bypass, which organisers have highlighted as being opened to a running event for the first time. The half marathon begins at Hong Kong Science Park and finishes on the Fanling Bypass, while the 10K is centred on the bypass itself. The 1.6K individual and parent-child races take place at North District Sports Ground. ARC has no accurate 1.6K distance option, so that race is recorded here rather than mapped to an incorrect structured distance.

Challenge divisions are offered for the marathon and half marathon, with age-based qualifying standards and evidence of recent race performance required. Experience divisions are also available. The marathon has a six-hour limit, the half marathon three hours and the 10K 90 minutes. Marathon course controls are published at 18.3 km, 24.8 km and 34.1 km.

Race packs are collected from 28 to 31 October at the Heung Yee Kuk New Territories Building. Participants must use their reserved collection slot and show the collection email. Marathon and half-marathon baggage is transported to the appropriate finish area, and baggage deposit closes 30 minutes before each start.

A post-race pop-up carnival at North District Sports Ground links the sporting programme with local New Territories food and community activities.
