Event Detail

The Great Majha Run returns for its sixth edition on Sunday, 15 November 2026, bringing distance running to the historic villages of Punjab's Tarn Taran district. The event starts in Pahuwind, associated with the birthplace of Sikh warrior Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, and its route connects with Narli, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Participants can enjoy an unusual rural running experience rather than a conventional city circuit.

The organisers describe a timed course through fields and beside water bodies. Four distances are advertised: half marathon (21.1K), 10K and 5K, plus a 42.2K full marathon by invitation only. The full marathon is not an open-entry category. The event is organised in collaboration with the Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Foundation and the Super Sikh Foundation, with age-group and overall awards and published cash prizes for eligible finishers.

Culture, community and race-day experience

Traditional Punjabi hospitality is part of the attraction. Organisers promote a hearty local breakfast, with dishes such as saag, makki di roti, halwa and lassi, along with a Gatka martial-arts presentation associated with the festival. Runners visiting for the weekend can explore the nearby Harike Wetlands and the Asal Uttar War Memorial. The published programme also offers free, basic dormitory-style lodging for out-of-town participants, with separate arrangements for men and women, subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirm accommodation directly before travelling.

Planning your run

The official Townscript registration lists 5 am local time on 15 November as the event start; category-specific flag-off times are not confirmed in the available race notice. Registration provides a timed bib, medal and refreshments, and the published entry prices vary between standard and early-bird offers. The organiser advertises discounted bookings until 31 October 2026. Check your category's live checkout price and any platform fees. Organisers do not offer refunds after a successful entry. Pahuwind is around 40 km from Amritsar, so leave ample time for an early departure from your accommodation.

Standard advertised fees are INR 400 (5K), 550 (10K), 650 (half marathon) and 700 (invitation-only full marathon). The organiser advertises rates of INR 320, 440, 520 and 600 respectively until 31 October 2026, subject to eligibility, remaining places and checkout charges.
