Bali Backyard Ultra - Chase the Sunrise 2026

Bali Backyard Ultra: Chase the Sunrise brings the classic last-person-standing backyard format to Pantai Padang Galak, Sanur. It is listed on the Big's Backyard Ultra international race calendar and is organised locally by race director Lisnawati, with collaboration from Australia's Dead Cow Gully.

Course and format

Runners must complete the same 6.71 km loop before the next hourly bell, return to the corral and start another loop at the top of the hour. The race continues until one athlete completes a lap alone. The flat coastal course follows the oceanfront and a short village section; expect humidity, exposed sunshine and night running. The field is capped at 100.

Weekend programme

• Friday 27 November: bib collection 15:00-16:30 WITA; optional course recce at 17:00.
• Saturday 28 November: final bib collection 12:00-14:00; mandatory briefing 14:30; first bell 15:00 WITA.
• Sunday 29 November: 15:00 marks 24 hours / approximately 100 miles for athletes still running. This is not a fixed finish time: the race ends only after the last-runner-standing result.

International registration

The official registration page lists AUD 145 for non-Indonesian runners. International runners should use the official registration page for their applicable entry fee.

Participants must sign the waiver, comply with mandatory-gear rules, and bring a headlamp for night laps. The organiser says there are no standard finisher medals. The included memento is provided for a DNF, with a trophy for the winner. This is a separate race at Padang Galak, Sanur, not the postponed March 2026 Bali Backyard Ultra and Munggu Sunday Fun Run at Pantai Munggu.
