34th Fukuchiyama Marathon 2026

The 34th Fukuchiyama Marathon is an established northern Kyoto road-running event held on Sunday 22 November 2026. The main 42.195 km marathon uses a Japan Association of Athletics Federations certified course, starting and finishing on the road west of Sandanike Fuso Chemical Industry Arena in Sandanike Park and turning at Nikashita in Oe-cho. The event is affiliated with the Marathon Challenge Cup RUN as ONE programme for Tokyo Marathon 2028.

The programme includes the full marathon, a two-person relay covering the marathon distance, a 10 km road race, and 2 km and 3 km fun runs. The marathon, relay and 10K start at 10:00. The 2K starts at 10:30, while 3K groups start from 10:50. Marathon runners have a six-hour limit to reach the 16:00 finish, with ten intermediate cut-offs between 3.2 km and 37.7 km.

Registration closed on 20 September. Strong demand led organisers to cancel a previously planned late-entry window, and the marathon capacity was expanded after entries exceeded the original target. Overseas runners had a dedicated Run Japan entry option.

Athlete bibs and timing chips are scheduled to be mailed in late October, so runners do not need a separate on-site check-in. The official participant T-shirt can be collected from 13:00 to 17:00 on Saturday 21 November or from 07:00 on race day. Finishers in the marathon, relay, 10K and fun-run events receive commemorative finisher medals, with the 2026 marathon medal featuring Fukuchiyama Castle. Web finisher certificates are also provided. Marathon awards extend to the top eight overall men and women, with additional age-group, local and regional recognition, and three marathon finishers are planned to be selected by ballot for Tokyo Marathon 2028.
