39th Chofu Castle Town Marathon 2027

The 39th Chofu Castle Town Marathon is scheduled for 17 January 2027 in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Organised by Chofu Athletic Association, it brings runners to a historic castle-town neighbourhood for a half marathon and shorter 10K, 5K, 3K and 2K races.

The start and finish are at Chofu Junior High School. Children's 2K waves begin at 08:30 Japan time, followed by 3K from 08:45, 5K from 09:10, 10K at 09:35 and the half marathon at 09:45. The half marathon has a 2-hour 30-minute time limit and intermediate checkpoints.

Check-in is scheduled from 07:30 to 08:30 at the school grounds. Participants receive instructions by post. The organiser provides timing, accident insurance, awards and a prize draw, while food trucks contribute to the community atmosphere.

No organiser baggage storage or dedicated event parking is available. From JR Chofu Station, runners can take a bus towards Shimonoseki Station and walk from the Jokamachi Chofu stop. Allow extra time for a cold January morning.
