41st Southern Seto Oshima Road Race 2027 - Suo-Oshima, Yamaguchi

The 41st Southern Seto Oshima Road Race is scheduled for Sunday 7 February 2027 on Suo-Oshima, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. This long-established coastal race marks the 50th anniversary of the Oshima Bridge opening and offers a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and 2 km. The half marathon and 10 km use Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified courses. Organisers have capped the 2027 field at 2,300 runners because of renovation work beside the athletics stadium.

All races start and finish at Suo-Oshima Town Athletics Stadium. The half marathon runs towards Wada and turns beyond Zushi-ga-hama Beach; the 10 km turns near Kamiura, the 5 km near Mori and Shinike, and the 2 km near Katazoegahama. Coastal scenery and island citrus orchards provide the setting.

The stadium opens at 07:30 Japan time, followed by an opening ceremony at 09:20. The half marathon starts at 10:00, 2 km at 10:10, 10 km at 10:40 and 5 km at 10:50. Time limits are 2 hours 50 minutes for the half, 90 minutes for 10 km, 40 minutes for 5 km and 20 minutes for 2 km. Half-marathon checkpoints close at approximately 10.5 km at 11:30 and 18.5 km at 12:30. Organisers list four hydration locations on the longer routes.

Registration is via RUNNET and closes on 7 December 2026 or earlier if capacities are reached. No race-day registration or bib pickup is offered: timing-chip bibs, an event T-shirt and the programme will be posted by late January. Entrants should bring their bib and allow extra time for travel because road closures begin around 09:30. JR Obatake Station is around 30 minutes away by taxi. The usual gymnasium waiting area is unavailable due to renovation; an alternative school gym is planned. The organisers reserve the right to cancel for dangerous conditions without refund.
