Event Detail

The ninth Ibaraki 100K Ultramarathon in Rokko is a 100 km running event around Lake Kitaura in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The route passes through Namegata, Hokota, Itako, Kashima and Kamisu, showcasing the lakeside landscape and local communities. It starts and finishes at Kitaura Community Centre in Namegata and turns around at Ikisu Shrine. The organiser describes the opening kilometres as very flat, but the course is not officially certified and includes some unpaved sections.

Race programme

The start is at 05:00 on Sunday 14 March 2027, Japan time. Runners have 14 hours to finish. The official checkpoints are at 34 km after five hours, 49 km after seven hours, 59 km after eight and a half hours, 70 km after ten hours, 85 km after twelve hours and 95 km after thirteen hours and fifteen minutes. Water and food stations are planned roughly every five kilometres. Supplies may change, so runners should carry their own drinks, food, mobile phone and warm clothing. They must obey road signals and race marshals.

Travel and practical information

There is no registration desk on race morning. The organiser plans to post participation documents approximately two weeks in advance. Free baggage storage is available near the start. Advance parking permits are required and parking is limited. The venue has no direct public transport, making a private vehicle or organised transfer important.

The race has 850 places for adults aged 18 and over. Registration is due to close on 15 December 2026, or earlier if places fill. Awards are offered to the top six men and women. Participant gifts remain unannounced. The organiser generally does not allow voluntary entry cancellation or provide refunds for event cancellation.
