Event Detail
Chiba Aqualine Marathon 2026 returns on Sunday, 8 November 2026 with a 42.195K marathon, 21.0975K half marathon and wheelchair half marathon. The event is built around the unusual opportunity to run on the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line while the expressway is closed to normal traffic. The published capacity is 12,000 for the marathon and 5,000 across the half-marathon events.
All races start in front of Shiohama Park in Kisarazu. The route heads towards Kisarazu-Kaneda IC and onto the Aqua-Line towards Umihotaru, reaching the bridge high point above Tokyo Bay. Half-marathon runners finish at Ushigome Coast after passing Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu. Marathon runners continue through Sodegaura, rural areas and residential districts before finishing at the former Kisarazu City Hall near the start area.
The wheelchair half begins at 09:40 JST. Marathon and half-marathon runners use three five-minute waves from 09:45 based on declared expected finishing times. Scheduled closing times are 10:55 for the wheelchair half, 13:10 for the half marathon and 16:00 for the marathon. The official course plan lists 15 medical stations, 15 food stations, 16 water stations and nine course cut-off points.
If weather conditions make the exposed Aqua-Line bridge unusable, the organising committee can switch to shortened courses of 31.4K for the marathon and 10.3K for the half-marathon events. General and late-entry allocations are now full, with the final late-entry release reaching capacity on 31 May 2026. Participants should keep checking the official website for the latest operational and transport updates before race weekend.
