Event Detail

Hiroshima Ultra-Trail by UTMB 2027 is the inaugural Hiroshima round of the UTMB World Series, bringing an international trail festival to the centre of Hiroshima from 9 to 11 April. Around 3,000 runners are expected across three races, with Hiroshima Gate Park serving as the start, finish and expo hub. The event links the city directly with the long-distance Hiroshima Bay Trail, giving runners an unusual transition from central urban streets into forested ridges, mountain shrines, steep trail and views across Hiroshima Bay and the Seto Inland Sea.

The headline HIROSHIMA 100K covers 94.6 km with 5,587 metres of climbing. It starts at 05:00 on Saturday 10 April and has a 29-hour limit, taking runners through a full circuit of the mountains around the Hiroshima delta before returning along the Peace Line near the Atomic Bomb Dome. The HIROSHIMA 50K covers 48.7 km with 2,755 metres of ascent, starts at 08:00 on Saturday and has a 13 hour 30 minute limit. The HIROSHIMA 25K runs on Sunday 11 April at 08:00, with about 25 km, 880 metres of climbing and a six-hour limit.

All three categories are sold out, with the organiser now operating a waitlist for places that become available. Each race earns UTMB Running Stones: three for the 100K, two for the 50K and one for the 25K. The top three men and women in the 100K and 50K also receive direct-entry rights to the relevant UTMB World Series Finals race, with the Finals entry fee still payable.

Athlete check-in is scheduled at Hiroshima Gate Park from 11:00 to 21:00 on Friday 9 April, with an additional Saturday check-in window for 25K runners. Competitors must carry the published mandatory equipment throughout their race. The longer races require at least one litre of fluid and 800 kcal of food, while the 25K requires at least 500 ml and 500 kcal. Every runner must carry a reusable aid-station cup. Aid stations provide food, drinks and medical support, and the 100K also includes a mid-race drop-bag service.
