Kochi Ryoma Marathon 2027

Kochi Ryoma Marathon 2027 is a full road marathon through Kochi Prefecture on Shikoku, linking Kochi City, Nankoku and Tosa City. The 42.195K race starts at 9:00 am on Sunday 21 February and closes at 4:00 pm, giving runners a seven-hour limit from the gun. The field is capped at 10,000 participants.

The start is in central Kochi in front of the prefectural government area near Kencho-mae tram stop, while the finish is at Haruno Athletic Recreation Park. The organiser describes the course as Japan Association of Athletics Federations certified. The published 2027 English information currently references the previous edition's course details, so runners should check the final participant guide for any route refinements before race weekend.

The event is open to runners aged 18 or older who can complete the marathon within seven hours. Checkpoints operate along the route, and runners arriving after a checkpoint closes cannot continue. Wheelchair participation is not permitted because of course-safety constraints. The opening ceremony begins at 8:45 am near Kencho-mae Station before the 9:00 am gun.

Race logistics are designed around a point-to-point course. Baggage handed in near the start is transported to the finish for collection. The organiser advises runners not to drive to the start because there is no parking there; central Kochi is accessible by tram, with Kencho-mae a short walk from the assembly area. From Kochi Ryoma Airport, the published access guidance recommends the airport limousine bus towards Kochi Station and transferring into the city centre.

Runner reception is scheduled at Toyo Denka Central Park from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday 20 February. Current registration is first-come, first-served and is scheduled to close on 31 October 2026, or earlier if the field fills. Finishers receive a medal, finisher towel, certificate, drink and snacks. Overall and age-group awards are also scheduled at Haruno Athletic Stadium.
