Event Detail
The Fujipan Presents Yodogawa Kanpei Marathon 2026 is a two-day running, walking and comedy festival beside Osaka's Yodo River on 28 and 29 November. First staged in 2013, this 14th edition is organised around participation as much as racing. Organisers anticipate about 9,000 entrants across eight event types and 16 divisions, including schoolchildren, paired runners, relay teams and participants in inclusive events.
The event is based at Yodogawa Stadium in the Hirakata District of Yodogawa River Park, a short walk from Keihan Railway's Hirakatakoen Station. Race courses follow the left bank of the river. Some sections of the half marathon, 10K and relay are unpaved or sloping, so competitors should check the official course information rather than expect a completely flat city-road route.
Saturday 28 November: the approximately 8.5K walk is scheduled for 09:45, children's timed 3K heats from 10:00, a timed 5K pair race at 12:15, an approximately 1.5K Heartful Run at 13:15 and a pram walk at 14:15. These activities have different entry conditions and deadlines.
Sunday 29 November: the half marathon begins at 09:00 and has a 2.5-hour cutoff. The 10K starts at 11:45 with a 90-minute limit. A five-stage relay covering approximately 17K starts at 13:30, with a two-hour limit; teammates pass a relay sash between legs. A women's relay division is included.
For several divisions, organisers send race bibs or collection notices by post before the festival. Other entrants must bring the appropriate exchange notice to collect materials on event day. Changing areas and a self-managed baggage space are provided at the stadium. Timed-race result certificates are available online after the event.
The festival has a longstanding charitable purpose: organisers direct 100 yen from each participant's fee towards support for survivors of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. General entry was extended to 26 October 2026 through designated registration platforms, subject to remaining capacity. Certain inclusive categories had already closed, so check the relevant division before travelling.
