Event Detail

THE CHALLENGE RACE FUKUOKA 3 is a performance-focused road-running event on Saturday 9 January 2027 at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park in Fukuoka, Japan. It is the third numbered Fukuoka fixture in a series that began locally in January 2026. The organiser describes the race as accredited by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF), although the 10.4 km category is not accredited. The series is designed for runners seeking personal bests and qualifying times rather than a mass-participation city-marathon experience.

Course and pacing

The race uses a 5.2 km park circuit, with ponds, woodland and coastal scenery. The organiser reports less than five metres of elevation variation. Marathon runners complete eight main circuits plus a finishing section, while half-marathon runners complete four plus a finishing section. The one-mile race follows a separate short course. The organiser provides a current course map showing the various turning points.

Eleven advertised pacing groups target marathon times from 2 hours 40 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes. Pacers are scheduled to run at least 25 km, but are not guaranteed throughout every race. There are two refreshment points per circuit, with Amino Vital drinks and energy gel advertised.

Timetable and limits

Race-day registration and bib collection take place 09:00–10:00 JST, with park entry from 09:30. The opening briefing is scheduled for around 10:10. The one-mile race begins at 10:40, followed by the marathon, half marathon, 10.4 km and 5 km at 11:00. Competition is expected to finish around 15:30. Cut-offs are 4 hours 30 minutes for the marathon, 2 hours 30 minutes for the half marathon, 90 minutes for 10.4 km and 40 minutes for 5 km. Intermediate checkpoints apply to longer races.

Entries and runner services

Entries close 5 January 2027 at 23:59 JST, or earlier if the overall 500-runner capacity is reached. The organiser lists JPY 11,000 for the marathon, JPY 7,700 for the half marathon, JPY 5,500 for 10.4 km, and JPY 3,300 each for 5 km and one mile. The latter two non-standard distances are described here because ARC lacks exact structured options. Refunds, transfers and changes are generally not available.

Bibs and timing chips are issued at race-day check-in; chips must be returned. Finishers can download a digital certificate, and event photos are available through the organiser's account system. Changing tents and park toilets are provided. Bags may be left in a self-service area, but there is no staffed baggage or valuables service.

Travel

The meeting point is Hikari to Kaze Plaza in eastern Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, around 20 minutes on foot from JR Uminonakamichi Station. The organiser lists road access from Koga Interchange and the Island City ramp. Designated paid parking is limited. The location pin is approximate and refers to the plaza management area, not a surveyed start line. Check final organiser announcements for operational or weather changes.
