Event Detail
THE CHALLENGE RACE SAPPORO 1 takes place on Sunday 18 October 2026 at Makomanai Sekisui Heim Stadium in Sapporo, Hokkaido. This Japanese athletics-certified meeting is part of the nationwide THE CHALLENGE RACE series, designed for runners seeking an officially recognised result or a personal best. It is separate from the 51st Sapporo Marathon held at the same venue on 4 October.
The organiser advertises a flat, fast circuit using the stadium and nearby Toyohira River area. Its full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K start together at 9:30 am Japan time, followed by the one-mile race at 9:35 am. Twelve marathon pacer groups target finishing times from 2 hours 40 minutes through 4 hours 30 minutes, including intermediate goals. Published race limits are 4 hours 30 minutes for the marathon, 2 hours 15 minutes for the half marathon, 90 minutes for 10K and 40 minutes for 5K.
Race-day check-in and bib collection run from 8:00 to 9:00 am inside the stadium. The opening ceremony follows at 9:10–9:20 am. Timing chips are issued at check-in and must be returned after the race. Entry fees are JPY 11,000 for the marathon, JPY 7,700 for the half, JPY 5,500 for 10K and JPY 3,300 for 5K or one mile. Sports Entry lists 12 October as its registration deadline.
Makomanai subway station is around 30 minutes away on foot, with bus stops nearer the stadium. Runners should allow sufficient time to reach check-in before the first flag-off. No current-edition finisher medal, shirt, prize schedule or expo has been verified.
