Event Detail
THE CHALLENGE RACE YAMAGUCHI 1 takes place on Saturday 30 January 2027 at Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park in Ajisu, Yamaguchi City, Japan. It is the first of three separately scheduled 2027 Yamaguchi Challenge Race fixtures, organised by THE CHALLENGE RACE Committee and OFFICE YAGI. The organiser describes the road course as Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) accredited, appealing to runners seeking a measured performance and a personal best rather than a crowded city marathon.
Flat circuit and pacing
Most distances use a flat 2.5 km lap around the park, with specific turnaround sections for exact half-marathon and marathon distances. The mile uses a separate short course. The organiser advertises 11 pace groups, associated with marathon finish targets from 2 hours 40 minutes through 4 hours 20 minutes. Hydration, sports drinks, salt tablets and energy food are advertised on the course, with a support point approximately 100 metres into each lap. Chip timing and downloadable results certificates are provided, and event photos are available subject to an organiser account.
Race-day timetable (Japan Standard Time, UTC+9)
- 08:00–09:00: on-site check-in, bib and timing chip collection at the parking area in front of the Great Lawn.
- 09:10–09:20: opening ceremony.
- 09:25: assemble for the start, organised by target pace.
- 09:30: 5K, 10K, half marathon, 30K and full marathon flag off together.
- 09:33: separate one-mile race flag off. This option is officially listed at JPY 3,300 but is not represented by ARC's existing structured distance filters.
Cut-offs, entry and participant rules
Published finishing limits are 40 minutes (5K), 90 minutes (10K), 2 hours 30 minutes (half marathon), 3 hours 12 minutes (30K), 4 hours 30 minutes (full marathon) and 12 minutes (mile). The combined field is capped at 500 entrants, with category quotas, so booking can close before the published 26 January 2027, 23:59 JST online deadline. The organiser's Moshicom page currently displays selectable registration tickets; check live inventory and conditions before payment.
The organiser permits eligible participants from primary-school age, subject to event rules. Entries are generally non-refundable and cannot normally be transferred between race editions. Pacers and support are subject to race-day conditions; runners must follow officials' directions. The organiser prohibits earphones that obscure announcements and handheld filming equipment while racing. Keep bib and timing chip safe, and return the timing chip after the race. An unattended baggage area is provided, not supervised valuables storage.
Getting there
The check-in point is beside the Great Lawn parking area in Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park, Ajisu, Yamaguchi. From Ajisu Station on the JR Ube Line the organiser suggests allowing around 30 minutes on foot; Shin-Yamaguchi Station is approximately 15 minutes away by taxi. Park car spaces are limited and may be paid. The map pin is an approximate entrance/check-in reference, not a surveyed start-line coordinate. Confirm transport, parking and any updates with the organiser before travelling.
The second and third Yamaguchi rounds are separate events on 20 February and 20 March 2027; a ticket for this first round should not be assumed valid for another date.
