Event Detail
The Taiping Half Marathon 2027 is scheduled for Sunday 8 August 2027 in Taiping, Perak, according to the AIMS international race calendar. AIMS lists the event as a half marathon with additional road-running categories, but the precise 2027 distance programme, registration arrangements and start times are still to be announced.
A heritage-town running event
Taiping's distinctive backdrop combines the streets of a long-established Perak town with its well-known parks and green surroundings. The Taiping Half Marathon has a growing following among Malaysian runners who enjoy a road race with a strong local atmosphere. This is an AIMS-member event, and it is worth watching for runners planning a half-marathon trip in northern Peninsular Malaysia.
The official race website documents the 2026 edition, which was based at Dataran Warisan Taiping and offered 21 km, 10 km and 5 km races. Its organiser reported 5,500 runners in 2025 and anticipated approximately 7,000 entries for 2026. The latter is a pre-event estimate, not a confirmed finisher count. The previous shorter distances and event venue are helpful context, not yet confirmed for 2027.
Entries and participant information
The organiser has not yet posted a verified 2027 registration link, fee schedule, entry deadline, detailed category rules, route map, individual cut-offs, aid-station plan, start waves, bib collection arrangements or prize structure. Details previously published for 2026 should not be reused as 2027 promises. Before booking travel, runners should check the latest official race guide for the start/finish area, parking, public access and collection instructions.
Taiping's town-centre setting makes it possible to combine the race with time in the heritage precinct and surrounding attractions. However, runners should not assume that the previous Dataran Warisan start/finish or particular road closures will recur unchanged.
Date certainty: AIMS' current official calendar lists 8 August 2027. Time certainty: the midnight local start shown in this preliminary listing is a date-only placeholder, not the published half-marathon flag-off. The 2027 artwork is also not yet available from a verified official source. Watch the official organiser website for confirmed race-day instructions and entry announcements.
