Event Detail
The 2026 MBN Seoul Marathon returns for its second edition on Sunday, 15 November, after a high-demand debut in 2025. Organised by MBN and Maeil Business Newspaper, it has two mass-participation road races: a half marathon with 20,000 places and a 10K with 10,000 places. Both categories sold out during the main entry period, with limited cancellation places later released through the official RUNIT platform.
The half marathon is a point-to-point race across central Seoul, starting at Gwanghwamun Square and finishing at Jamsil Sports Complex. The 10K starts and finishes at Jamsil Sports Complex. The organiser currently presents the detailed course maps as provisional, so runners should use the final race notice rather than rely on an earlier street-by-street route. This is especially important for the half marathon because baggage left at Gwanghwamun is transported to Jamsil for collection after the finish.
Participants are asked to reach their category assembly area by 06:30. Group warm-up and start preparation begin from 07:00, and both distances start from 07:30 in waves based on target time. The half marathon has a 2 hour 30 minute limit and the 10K a 1 hour 30 minute limit. Timing is by net time from the start mat, using a disposable chip attached to the bib. Start groups are allocated using a previous result uploaded to RUNIT where available, otherwise the runner's submitted target time.
Aid stations are scheduled every 2.5 km on the half marathon after the 5 km point. The 10K has drinks at approximately 3.5 km and 7 km. Changing rooms, baggage facilities, medical support and event liability insurance are provided. Participant gifts, bibs and timing chips are sent by courier before race day, while finishers receive a medal plus finish-area refreshments. The men's and women's top three receive cash awards: KRW 500,000, 400,000 and 300,000 for the half marathon, and KRW 300,000, 200,000 and 100,000 for the 10K. The final additional half-marathon registration window closed on 29 September 2026.
