Event Detail
The 2027 Seoul Marathon, also billed as the 97th Dong-A Marathon, is one of Asia's longest-established major road races and Korea's only World Athletics Platinum Label race. The event returns on Sunday, 21 March 2027 with a full marathon and a 10K, bringing elite competition and a large mass-participation field into central Seoul.
The marathon is scheduled to start from Gwanghwamun Square, the historic civic space in front of Gyeongbokgung, before crossing the city to the Seoul Sports Complex in Jamsil. Current organiser material highlights a route linking old and modern Seoul, including Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Seoul Forest and the Jamsil Bridge crossing of the Han River. The 10K gathers separately around Jamsil Sports Complex. The organiser currently marks the 06:30 assembly locations as tentative, while an official overseas registration partner lists an 08:00 race start for both distances.
The full marathon has a strict five-hour course limit and the 10K a 1 hour 30 minute limit. Timing is by net time from the start mat. Water and sports drink are scheduled around every 5 km and at the finish, with sponges from 7.5 km at roughly 5 km intervals and nutrition for marathon runners around 20 km and 30 km. Changing rooms and baggage storage are planned at the assembly areas. Parking is not available at the starts, so runners should use public transport.
International registration opened on 1 September 2026. Overseas marathon entrants must submit an official full-marathon result of 4:59:59 or faster from the eligible period, with record submission open until 30 November 2026. The 10K does not require a qualifying time. Start groups are assigned by submitted records, and participants must start in their allocated group or a slower group.
Overseas runners must collect their race packs in person at the 2027 Seoul Marathon Expo before race day; the final Expo venue and collection timetable have not yet been published. The organiser has also confirmed that finishers receive a finisher medal. Final 2027 course maps, exact start-wave details, race-pack contents and prize information remain subject to later organiser announcements.
