The Skechers Aero Elite is a road-racing shoe designed for competitive runners targeting events from 5 km to the marathon. It prioritises low weight, energetic cushioning and a quick transition rather than the forgiving versatility of a daily trainer.
Skechers combines a full-length carbon-infused Quantum Plate with responsive HYPER BURST PRO supercritical midsole foam and HYPER ARC rocker geometry. The plate is designed to help guide the foot forward, while a 3.5 mm HYPER BURST PRO sockliner adds another layer of underfoot cushioning. A breathable woven jacquard upper and FitKnit tongue aim to hold the foot securely; Lite Grip TPU rubber provides lightweight road traction.
The manufacturer specifies a 40 mm heel and 36 mm forefoot stack, giving a 4 mm drop, and approximately 167 g for a men's US size 9. Those measurements are size-specific, not universal. This specialised racing construction may feel too aggressive for relaxed daily mileage, and the relatively low drop will not suit every runner. Check fit, your preferred level of stability and any competition footwear regulations before buying.

Reviews
“During a 5K demonstration I felt faster with less effort and enjoyed the one-piece upper and rolling toe-off. I favour it for neutral midfoot or forefoot running, but have not tested longer distances; the white colour is impractical.”
“The fit feels close and secure without squeezing my very wide foot. I find the sensation reminiscent of an early Vaporfly, and my experience contradicts descriptions of an especially tight toe box.”
“The Aero Elite feels unusually light, responsive and comfortable for a first-generation racer, with reassuring grip and little outsole wear in our early testing. Its narrow heel, low drop and minimal stability guidance will not suit everyone.”
“The foam combines a soft landing with a pronounced rebound, and the secure sock-like upper feels very light. The propulsion improves as speed rises, but the 4 mm drop places considerable demands on the calves, particularly over a marathon.”
“The foam feels lively at marathon pace and the slightly flexible plate also permits comfortable slower running. The snug midfoot can create pressure, the forefoot is shallow, and the outsole cutouts make a popping noise at low speeds.”
“This is a quick, bouncy and enjoyable racer with a thin, breathable upper, particularly at 5K and 10K effort. As I tire, the soft inner forefoot compresses enough to disturb my mechanics and cause knee chafing, limiting longer-race appeal.”
“The exceptionally light build and lively foam made faster repeats feel efficient, with a secure racing fit and strong propulsion. The platform feels less settled at easy paces, and the laces could be longer for alternative tying methods.”
