The SOL Escape Bivvy with Hood is a reusable emergency shelter for trail runners, ultrarunners and fastpackers who need more protection than a basic reflective blanket. Its proprietary Escape ThermaShell fabric is breathable, allowing moisture to move out while the highly water-resistant shell helps block wind, rain and snow. The metallised inner surface reflects 70% of radiated body heat.
A fully adjustable enlarged hood improves head coverage, and the hard-wearing spunbonded olefin fabric is designed to resist tears and punctures through repeated use. The regular version measures 84 by 31 inches (about 213 by 79 cm). SOL’s current specification lists 8.5 oz, or roughly 241 g, although some retailer listings quote lower weights, so buyers should check the exact regional version.
This is an emergency or lightweight warm-weather shelter rather than a temperature-rated sleeping bag. For remote races it can form part of a safety kit, but runners should still carry the equipment required by organisers and conditions.
