The ZOLEO Satellite Communicator is a compact safety and messaging device for trail runners, ultrarunners and other outdoor users travelling beyond reliable mobile coverage. Paired with the free ZOLEO app, it can send and receive messages over the Iridium satellite network, cellular data or Wi-Fi. The device also provides check-in, location sharing, weather forecasts and two-way monitored SOS. Check-ins and SOS can be triggered directly from the hardware if the paired phone is unavailable.
ZOLEO lists the communicator at 150 g and 9.1 × 6.6 × 2.7 cm. It is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, tested to MIL-STD 810G for shock resistance and offers more than 200 hours of battery life. Bluetooth Low Energy links it to one phone or tablet at a time, while onboard GPS and GLONASS provide location data.
An active ZOLEO service plan is required for satellite-connected features, with a minimum initial term and activation fee. Satellite transmission also requires a suitable view of the sky, and local rules may restrict satellite communicators. This device supports safety planning but does not guarantee connectivity or rescue.
