Event Detail

The 2026 Shanghai Yangtze Beach Half Marathon (上海长滩半程马拉松) returns to Baoshan District, Shanghai, on Sunday 15 November 2026. This second edition is advertised with 8,000 places, increased from the previous year's allocation, and a 7:00 am start in China Standard Time. The 21.0975 km point-to-point road course links Baoshan's industrial heritage with the riverfront at the mouth of the Yangtze, giving participants a distinctive alternative to Shanghai's central-city marathon.

From steelworks to riverside parkland

The announced start is at Baosteel Gate 2, Zhengque Square on Tongji Road. The route begins near the large steelworks complex before travelling towards the Yangtze-side waterfront. The organisers have highlighted approximately 12.56 km of waterside running, with sights associated with Baoshan's industrial district, the Yangtze estuary and the Wusongkou international cruise-port area. The advertised finish is south of the Yangtze River Estuary Science and Technology Museum, near Wusong Paotaiwan National Wetland Forest Park. The different start and finish mean entrants should account for the distance between the two locations when planning transport.

Entry and race preparation

The organiser opened registration for the 2026 edition in late August and stated an application deadline of noon on 22 September 2026, with the selection results scheduled for 28 September. The published race fee was CNY 120 for the half marathon. As the application period has ended, this listing should not be treated as an offer of current entry; runners should check the official race notices for any permitted changes, transfers or participant instructions.

Baoshan's event promotion stresses the contrast between working waterfront and landscaped riverside scenery. Participants travelling from other parts of Shanghai should allow extra time for an early start and follow organisers' instructions on access to Baosteel Gate 2, any temporary road restrictions and baggage arrangements. Final bib-collection instructions, detailed start-pen arrangements and race-day operational notices should be checked from the organiser, rather than inferred from the previous edition. The race is promoted through official Shanghai municipal and Baoshan District event announcements.
