Event Detail
The 2026 Suizhou Marathon takes runners through the streets and waterfront corridors of Suizhou, a city in Hubei province closely associated with the ancient Marquis Yi of Zeng's bronze bells. The event starts and finishes in the precinct of the Suizhou Museum, linking a substantial participation road race with one of the city's best-known cultural landmarks. Organisers have allocated 10,000 places across the marathon and half marathon, with separate category limits of 3,500 and 6,500 runners respectively.
The route and its setting
The published marathon route uses the roads around the museum and follows a broad circuit through urban and waterside areas, including Leigudun Avenue, Baiyun Avenue, the Bianzhong Bridge area, Shennong Avenue and sections beside Baiyun Lake. It also includes named crossings and streets such as Yunshui First Bridge, Qinghe Road, Yanhe Avenue and Taoyuan Bridge. Participants can expect a largely paved city-road event, although any assumptions about gradients or weather should be checked against the final organiser's route map and notices. The half marathon has its own shorter turning arrangement rather than simply sharing every kilometre of the full-distance course.
Race-day preparation
The organiser's race regulations specify a 07:30 local-time start on Sunday 18 October. The check-in period is listed from 06:00 to 07:15, so participants should aim to reach the museum precinct with ample time for security, baggage and their starting corral. Time limits are three hours for the half marathon and six hours for the marathon, with staggered road-opening arrangements explained in the regulations. Course support and refreshments are provided at designated points, and athletes should follow their category-specific timing and baggage-collection instructions.
The full marathon is intended for runners aged 20 or older, while half-marathon participants must be at least 18, with further medical and participation requirements published by the organiser. Applications were scheduled earlier in the year and the announced entry window ended on 12 September; runners should check the official event website for any subsequent changes rather than assume entries are still available.
For visiting runners, Suizhou's museum, lakeside setting and local history give the race a distinctive travel appeal. Confirm current race-pack collection arrangements, transport access and any road closures directly with the organiser before travelling.
