Event Detail
Zhengzhou Marathon 2026 is the sixth edition of one of central China's major city road races, returning on Sunday, 18 October with 25,000 runners. The programme is deliberately focused on two competitive distances: a 42.195 km marathon for 12,000 entrants and a 21.0975 km half marathon for 13,000. Both races start at 07:00 China Standard Time from the Zhengdong New Area CBD, with the start and finish on Huizhan Road beside the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre and Ruyi Lake.
The route broadly follows the established Zhengzhou course and links modern and historic landmarks across the city. Published 2026 material highlights the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre and the distinctive Greenland Plaza tower, then the Shang City archaeological area, Zijingshan Park, Erqi Memorial Tower and Longzi Lake. The race is designed as both a competitive event and a showcase of Zhengzhou's 3,600-year urban history, with the event continuing its distinctive surname-culture theme and incorporating Henan opera, kung fu and local heritage along the course.
Entry used a ballot-style pre-registration process from 10 to 19 August. Both the marathon and half marathon cost CNY 200. Marathon applicants were required to show recent marathon experience, while half-marathon applicants needed qualifying recent road-race results. The organiser subsequently published direct-entry and ballot results with staged payment windows.
The 2026 race is certified as a China Athletics Association A-class event. Prize money has been increased, with published first-place awards of CNY 60,000 for the marathon and CNY 30,000 for the half marathon. Participants receive the official Xtep race shirt, while finishers receive the 2026 "Cultural Gate" medal, which uses an opening design inspired by traditional architecture, bronze-age motifs and Zhengzhou landmarks. Runners also receive a surname insert for the medal, continuing the race's long-running surname identity.
Race-week activity is centred on Ruyi Lake Cultural Square, where the Zhengzhou Marathon Carnival runs from 15 to 17 October with local food, cultural displays and running-related activities. Bib holders are also offered free public transport on race weekend. Exact 2026 race-pack collection hours were not yet clearly published in the sources reviewed, so runners should follow their final organiser instructions for collection details.
