Event Detail

The XTERRA Taihu Trail Run (Suzhou) 2026 brings XTERRA's international trail-running series to the bamboo-covered hills of Xishan Island on Lake Taihu, Jiangsu, on 5–6 December. The event offers family and youth races on Saturday and more demanding mountain routes on Sunday. XTERRA advertises eight race categories, 116 Trail Run World Championship qualification slots, and an overall RMB 35,200 prize purse.

Trails and course choices

Saturday's 5 km and 8 km youth/family races begin at 12:30 China Standard Time. The 5 km has approximately 343 m of climbing and a two-hour cut-off; families can race with children, while eligible younger runners can enter individually. The 8 km option is a separate route, not represented by an exact ARC distance selector.

Sunday's courses are advertised as 12 km, 20 km, 35 km and 55 km. The 12 km route climbs around 615 m with a three-hour limit. The 20 km course measures approximately 19.3 km on the official map, with 910 m of ascent, a five-hour cut-off and one ITRA point. The 35 km option measures 35.2 km, climbs 1,860 m and has a ten-hour limit and two ITRA points. The long 55 km category features the steepest endurance challenge and is aimed at experienced trail runners. The Sunday race start times are still marked to be announced by XTERRA; do not assume all categories begin together. ARC currently lacks exact 8 km, 20 km, 35 km and 55 km selectors, so those race distances are described here rather than assigned inaccurate substitute distances.

Registration, preparation and access

Entries are advertised through 4 November 2026, unless places fill earlier, using the XTERRA WeChat Mini Program. The youth/family races collect packets on Saturday 09:00–12:00, while entrants in the 12/20/35/55 km races check in 09:00–20:00 on Saturday. Both check-in sessions are centred at China (Wuzhong) Taihu Dongting Biluochun Tea Cultural Park, Suzhou. The venue is on Xishan Island; travellers may use Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and continue by train towards Suzhou before arranging local transport.

The longer 35 km and 55 km races have age, prior race-finish and medical-document conditions. In particular, entrants must provide qualifying finish evidence and a recent medical report covering blood pressure and a 12-lead ECG. XTERRA says bibs and GPS devices cannot be issued without satisfactory required documentation. Read the category-specific official rules before paying, especially for family age combinations, cut-offs, equipment, refunds and medical eligibility.
