Event Detail
Hong Kong Urban Backyard Ultra 2026 (Until the Last Warrior) takes place at Dragon Boat Pavilion, Sha Tin, on Saturday 19 December 2026. Organised by The Skyliner, this is a true backyard ultramarathon rather than a conventional one-lap 6.7K race.
Runners set off at 8:00am Hong Kong time and must finish an identical 6.7056 km (4.167-mile) loop inside one hour. At the beginning of every subsequent hour, all remaining competitors must be in the starting corral and set off again together. They repeat this process until only one runner can complete one additional full loop. There is no predetermined total race distance or finishing time.
Backyard format and key rules:
- The course is fixed at 6.7056 km per loop (also called a yard).
- Competitors may rest, eat and change shoes or clothes between completed loops, but every next loop starts precisely on the hour. Late starters are eliminated.
- A runner who cannot finish the loop in less than one hour is eliminated.
- External pacing, walking poles and outside help during a loop are prohibited. Runners can use personal supplies and support in the designated rest area between loops.
- The final runner to complete one more loop than everyone else is the sole winner. Everyone else's official backyard placing is technically DNF, although completed loops are recorded.
- If the remaining runners all stop on the same total loop count, there is no winner.
The event has a strict 40-participant cap. The official organiser ticket costs HK$1,199 plus a HK$29.98 ticket-platform service fee. The separate HK$99 headscarf and HK$179 cap sold in the organiser's store are optional merchandise, not race entry categories.
Race kit: each entrant is promised an event T-shirt, numbered bib and two energy gels. Participants who complete at least one loop qualify for a commemorative cap and buff according to the organiser; the recognised backyard prize for the last warrior includes a FATE 6.0 vest. The international race directory mentions a commemorative bell, but the organiser's own published pack list does not clearly include one. Accordingly, a bell is not listed as guaranteed.
Getting there: Dragon Boat Pavilion (龍舟亭) is near the Sha Tin waterfront in the New Territories. The official race page links directly to the pavilion's map marker. The event may continue into the night or even the following day, so runners should plan for variable weather, nutrition, lighting, clothing layers and transport rather than a fixed finishing schedule.
Race-pack collection and eligibility: advance collection dates, onsite check-in times, detailed age restrictions and kit requirements are not reliably published in the organiser's public listing. Check the registration email or ask the organiser before travelling. The venue coordinates in ARC refer to the organiser's official Dragon Boat Pavilion map pin, not a surveyed course start gate.
