Event Detail
TransLantau by UTMB 2026 is Hong Kong's UTMB World Series weekend on Lantau Island, bringing four trail races to the territory's largest and most mountainous island from 13 to 15 November. The event is designed around the contrast that makes Lantau distinctive: technical mountain trails and steep climbs sit alongside coastal paths, old villages and protected country parks, while the wider route network passes cultural landmarks including Tai O fishing village, the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. More than 80% of the event's routes are on trail.
The headline TransLantau100 covers 104 km with about 4,500 m of climbing. It starts at Mui Wo River Silver Garden at 19:30 on Friday and gives runners 27 hours to finish, with the route crossing both Lantau country parks and climbing Fung Wong Shan, or Lantau Peak, at 934 m. The TransLantau50 starts at 09:00 on Saturday and covers 45 km with about 2,500 m of ascent, circling the Chi Ma Wan peninsula before continuing towards Discovery Bay and Lo Fu Tau. Its time limit is 11 hours.
Sunday's programme includes the TransLantau25, a 27 km course with about 1,100 m of ascent starting at 09:30, and the TransLantau15 at 10:30, a shorter 15 km introduction to the event with about 500 m of climbing. Their limits are six and four hours respectively. The four races award three, two, one and one Running Stones.
The event requires mandatory safety equipment appropriate to each distance. Across the races this includes a smartphone running the required tracking and safety apps, a reusable cup, at least one litre of carrying capacity, emergency blanket and whistle; the longer races add stronger night and weather requirements. TransLantau100 runners can use organiser drop bags, including an additional Ngong Ping bag around the 50 km point, and outside support is restricted to designated checkpoints.
Public registration opened in April 2026. At the latest official update, TransLantau100 remained open while the 50, 25 and 15 km races were full. The organiser's registration rules also state that 2026 bib distribution begins on 6 November, with detailed collection venue and hours still to be confirmed.
