Event Detail

World Heart Day 2026–27 Carnival cum Run for Heart brings families, recreational runners and competitive athletes together at Hong Kong Science Park for a morning of running and a community heart-health festival. Organised by the Hong Kong College of Cardiology, the event promotes physical activity alongside CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) awareness. The 2026–27 campaign encourages people to learn lifesaving skills before an emergency occurs.

The running programme

The 10 km and 3 km races offer individual male and female age-group awards, with additional 10 km team, 3 km corporate and hospital cup competitions. The organiser has lowered the entry age for the 3 km race to eight years old, allowing more children and families to join. Teams of three to six runners compete using their three fastest results. Check the organiser's entry rules for specific age and team eligibility.

A family relay runs provisionally from 9:00 am to 10:10 am, with an adult and child each completing 400 metres. The official 2026–27 fee is HKD 600 per adult-child team. Eligible children are aged 4–11 in the 2027 calendar year, paired with an adult born in 2009 or earlier. ARC has no exact 800 m relay distance option, so this category is described here rather than mislabelled as a 1K race. This year's new 1 km Pet Walk offers a HKD 280 individual entry for one adult and one pet, or a HKD 380 buddy entry for two adults and one pet, or one adult, one child aged 4–17 and one pet. The 10K team category costs HKD 2,100 per team, for three to six runners; the three fastest finishers determine the team result. Hospital Cup and Corporate Cup fees must be requested directly from the organiser. Pet owners must carefully check the official rules for animal age, vaccinations, identification, leash requirements and supervision before entering; this is a pet-walking activity rather than a timed road race.

Schedule and race-day advice

The event takes place Sunday 10 January 2027 from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm at Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, New Territories. The organiser lists an 8:00 am 10 km start and 8:10 am 3 km start, but specifically marks those times as tentative. The Pet Walk is provisionally set for 10:30 am. The heart-health carnival continues into the afternoon. Runners travelling by public transport can take the East Rail Line to University Station and a connecting bus to Science Park. Check the official route diagrams and last-minute notices before travelling.

An optional HK$20 guided training workshop is offered to entrants aged 12 or older, subject to places, on 29 November 2026 at Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground or 12 December 2026 at Aberdeen Sports Ground. Workshops cover running technique and heart-health awareness with coaches and cardiology input. Registered participants receive race-pack collection arrangements by email about two weeks before the event; take the email (printed or digital) to collect your kit. The organiser advises that entries require successful payment, and fees are non-refundable. Check the official site for the latest rules, start times and entry availability.
