Event Detail

YOKOHAMA MARATHON 2026 returns on Sunday 25 October as one of Japan's major mass-participation city running events. The full marathon alone has a published capacity of 20,800 runners, with additional fields in the Pair Relay, Bayshore Highway Run, Minatomirai 7km Run and Enjoy Run programme. The 2026 edition follows the tenth full-marathon anniversary celebrated in 2025 and continues the event's focus on showcasing Yokohama's waterfront cityscape.

The full marathon starts in front of Yokohama Landmark Tower and runs through Minato Mirai, passing landmarks including the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, the Yokohama Three Towers, Marine Tower and Yamashita Park. The second half then uses a section of the Shuto Expressway Bayshore Route, which is normally closed to runners, before finishing at Pacifico Yokohama Rinko Park overlooking the harbour. The organiser finalised the 2026 course in September, including changes from the 2025 route. The marathon course is not officially recognised by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations.

The full marathon and Pair Relay start at 08:30 JST and finish by 15:00. The Minatomirai 7km Run also starts at 08:30 and has a 10:00 finish limit. The approximately 20.3 km Bayshore Highway Run starts in waves from 10:00, while the approximately 3 km Enjoy Run categories start progressively from 09:40. Course checkpoints apply and runners who miss published closing times are removed from competition. Timing chips are used for the marathon, relay, highway run and 7K, while the Enjoy Run is untimed.

Registration for the principal 2026 entry windows is now closed. Overseas residents were eligible for the full marathon only, with the final published overseas late-entry window closing on 12 August. Domestic entrants could choose a paid pre-event bib and shirt delivery service, while overseas addresses are excluded from that delivery option. The organiser has said updated checkpoint information and final participant guidance will be published around early October, so runners should re-check the official guide before race weekend.

Public transport is strongly recommended. Major road and expressway restrictions will operate on race day around Minato Mirai, the waterfront and the Bayshore Route.
