Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata 2026

Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata 2026 is the 11th edition of one of eastern India's flagship road-running events and the first 25 km race to attain World Athletics Gold Label status. Organised by Procam International and held annually since 2014, the event returns to Kolkata on Sunday, 20 December 2026, with its race programme centred on Indira Gandhi Sarani, better known as Red Road.

The headline 25K starts at 05:34 IST and the Open 10K at 06:45, with both races starting and finishing on Red Road. The wider programme also includes the approximately 4.8 km Ananda Run at 09:00, a roughly 2.3 km Senior Citizens' Run, a Champions with Disability category and virtual options. ARC's structured distances list only the accurately supported 25K and 10K distances because the current database does not offer exact 4.8 km or 2.3 km options.

The event combines international elite racing with large-scale public participation. The current 25K entry rules require most applicants to submit a qualifying timing certificate, while Open 10K applicants can enter without one and may submit a recent result for start-wave allocation. The standard registration window opened on 13 August and is scheduled to close at 23:59 IST on 27 November, or earlier if places sell out. General 25K places filled rapidly, although the organiser continues to list limited routes for eligible women, younger and older runners, overseas entrants, charity places and concierge packages.

Bib collection is through the PLAYSCAPE race expo immediately before race weekend. Current category information lists collection from 17 to 19 December, while the event-wide rules page still states 18 to 19 December, so runners should follow the slot in their final confirmation. Personal bib collection is required for 25K and Open 10K participants. Optional baggage service is available for those two categories with a refundable tag deposit.

Confirmed 25K runners receive an ASICS race-day tee and finishers receive a medal and downloadable timing certificate. Open 10K finishers receive a medal and timing certificate, with finisher tees reserved for the fastest 1,000 men and 1,000 women. The event is a major sporting and philanthropic fixture for Kolkata, bringing elite and recreational runners together on one of the city's best-known ceremonial roads.
