Event Detail

The BSF Shillong Half Marathon 2026: Run Above the Clouds takes place on Wednesday, 18 November 2026, in Shillong, Meghalaya. Organised by the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier in association with the Fit India movement and Sports Authority of India, this national-level running event combines competition with a focus on fitness, community and connections with India's border populations.

Race day and course

The 21K half marathon starts at 6:00 am IST and the 10K at 6:30 am IST. Both races use the SAI Ground and NEHU area in Shillong. Organiser information describes a route from the Sports Authority of India gate at North-Eastern Hill University, towards NEHU Point and the Golf Links/Polo Ground area, returning to SAI Ground. Shillong's hills and changing gradients make this a more demanding outing than a flat city-road race. Runners should arrive one hour before their own flag-off.

Eligibility and cut-offs

Half-marathon entrants must be 18 or older, with age groups below 35, 35–50 and 50+. The 10K minimum age is 15, with groups below 40 and above 40. Cut-offs depend on age and gender. For the half marathon, men's limits range from 2 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours, while women's range from 3 hours to 4 hours 30 minutes. For 10K, men's limits are 1 hour 15 minutes or 1 hour 30 minutes, and women's are 1 hour 30 minutes or 1 hour 45 minutes. The organiser awards finisher medals only to runners completing within their applicable limit.

Registration and runner support

Registration is open through the official booking partner, with a published closing time of 5 November 2026 at 6:00 pm IST. General entry is paid, but women, students, BSF personnel and eligible residents within 15 km of the international border can register free. Defence, CAPF and state police personnel receive a 50% concession. Entries are non-refundable.

Collect your bib and jersey at BSF Sector Headquarters, Shillong, on 15 or 16 November, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Bring an accepted photo ID. The organiser lists T-shirts, bibs and goody bags for participants, hydration approximately every 2 km, and cash prizes for the leading three runners in each category. Prize amounts may be revised if fewer than ten people enter a category.

Important: This BSF event on 18 November is not the separate Assam Rifles Half Marathon in Shillong on 22 November. Check the organiser's current registration information for last-minute route and safety updates.
