Event Detail

BTS100 2026 returns to East Java’s Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park on 7–8 November, with six trail challenges across volcanic sand, mountain tracks, forests, grasslands and rural roads. The 18K is a new shorter course, while the 35K replaces the former 30K category. At roughly 2,200 metres elevation around Bromo’s Sea of Sand, runners should prepare for cold temperatures, strong winds, loose footing and major climbing.

Official race timetable (WIB, UTC+7)

All races start and finish at Artotel Cabin Bromo, Ngadisari. The specific 2026 schedule is more accurate than the general 05:30 start shown on the organiser’s overview page:

  • Saturday 7 November, 00:01: 170K and 100K flag off.
  • Saturday 7 November, 01:00: 70K flag off.
  • Sunday 8 November, 05:00: 35K flag off.
  • Sunday 8 November, 05:30: 18K and 8K flag off.

The longest races therefore start just after midnight on Saturday, not at 05:30 Saturday.

Courses and cut-offs

  • 8K: 373 m elevation gain; 2-hour limit.
  • 18K: 555 m elevation gain; 4-hour limit.
  • 35K: 1,305 m elevation gain; 8 hours 30 minutes.
  • 70K: 2,960 m elevation gain; 18 hours.
  • 100K: 4,187 m elevation gain; 32 hours.
  • 170K: 7,439 m elevation gain; 42 hours.

The 100K additionally has a 20-hour checkpoint limit at WS14 Bromo Sand (approximately kilometre 57). The 170K has a 24-hour checkpoint at WS8 Pananjakan (approximately kilometre 93). Runners who miss these cut-offs cannot continue.

Entry fees and qualification

The organiser publishes separate standard Indonesian and foreigner/KITAS fees (IDR). Listed below as domestic / foreigner-KITAS: 8K 800,000 / 1,000,000; 18K 1,000,000 / 1,200,000; 35K 1,200,000 / 1,400,000; 70K 1,600,000 / 2,000,000; 100K 1,950,000 / 2,700,000; 170K 2,300,000 / 3,250,000. An earlier early-bird discount is separately advertised; do not assume that price is still available. The registration portal requires an organiser account and does not establish a public closing deadline here.

All entrants must submit the organiser’s signed medical certificate. The 170K requires a previous 100K trail finish, the 100K requires a 50K trail finish, and the 70K requires at least a 30K trail or qualifying road marathon. The shorter courses do not have a mandatory result qualification, but preparation and mountain-running ability are strongly recommended.

Bib collection, safety and access

Race-pack collection and gear checks take place at Artotel Cabin Bromo: 5 November for 170K/100K/70K; 6 November for all courses, with earlier close for the longest distances; and 7 November for 8K/18K/35K. Check the detailed timetable before travelling, as requirements differ by category.

For 18K and longer, mandatory equipment includes a windproof or warm layer, mobile phone, at least 1 litre of water-carrying capacity, personal nutrition, whistle, emergency blanket, cup and first-aid kit; headlamp and waterproof-jacket requirements vary by distance. A GPS tracker is mandatory for 100K and 170K and supplied at race-pack collection. This is a cupless event. Outside support is permitted only at WS6 Jemplang, and running under another person's bib is prohibited.
