Event Detail
The 19th Shimanto River Sakura Marathon is a 42.195 km point-to-point road marathon in Shimanto Town, Kochi Prefecture. The 2027 edition is confirmed for Sunday, 28 March, with a 09:00 start from Kubokawa Elementary School and a finish at the Furusato Exchange Center. The field is capped at 1,000 runners.
The event uses a one-way, non-certified course. General vehicles can continue to use parts of the road during the race, so runners must keep left and follow marshal and traffic instructions. The overall time limit is six hours, with the 25 km checkpoint closing at 12:30.
Entries are first-come, first-served from 20 October 2026 to 30 January 2027, or until capacity is reached. The entry fee is JPY 12,000 plus the published processing fee. Entrants must be at least 18 on race day, excluding high-school students.
Bib numbers, timing chips, a baggage bag and race information are scheduled to be mailed in late February to early March. Runner reception is offered on 27 March from 13:00 to 17:00 and on race morning from 06:30 to 08:20. Baggage is transported to the finish. Finishers within the time limit receive an original event medal and downloadable web certificate. Overall awards go to the top six men and women, with additional division and senior awards.
