Event Detail
The 24th Kashiwazaki Marathon takes place on Sunday, 25 October 2026, in Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture, on Japan's Sea of Japan coast. Despite its name, the 2026 programme does not include a full marathon: runners can enter an officially certified half marathon, a 10 km race or a 3 km event. Its Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF)-certified road course starts and finishes at Kashiwazaki City Athletics Stadium, making it attractive to road runners who value recognised course standards.
Courses, guest athletes and special links
The race offers 21.0975 km and 10 km divisions for both JAAF-registered athletes and general participants. The 3 km division also welcomes eligible school-age runners and family pairs. Organisers cap total participation at 1,100, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The city has announced guest appearances by long-distance runner Yuma Hattori, associated with Toyota's athletics team, and Kinari Ikeda of Bourbon. The official RUNNET edition page also identifies this event as a RUN as ONE - Tokyo Marathon partner race: three participants are to be selected by ballot for Tokyo Marathon entry rights, with associated travel expenses borne by the selected runners. Check the organiser's rules for any eligibility limitations rather than assuming all divisions qualify.
Race morning
All times are Japan Standard Time (UTC+9). The venue opens at 7:15 am. The half marathon begins at 9:00 am, followed by the 10 km at 9:15 am and the 3 km at 9:25 am. Entrants should confirm their race number, category and any cutoff requirements against the organiser's latest notice. The route uses public roads around Kashiwazaki, and the city has announced temporary traffic restrictions for Sunday morning.
Registration and access
Official entry was offered through RUNNET from 1 July to 28 August 2026, with participation capped at 1,100. Registration is now closed, including the later transfer window advertised on RUNNET. Published entry fees were JPY 6,500 for the half marathon and JPY 5,000 for the 10 km. The 3 km entry was JPY 3,500 for participants aged 16 or over, JPY 1,500 for eligible primary and junior-high students, or JPY 4,000 for a family pair.
The stadium is at 1-40 Gakkōchō, Kashiwazaki. The organiser's access guide estimates walks of roughly 16 minutes from JR Kashiwazaki Station or 17 minutes from JR Higashi-Kashiwazaki Station. Parking is available, but public transport is encouraged. Participants should check the official municipal race page, RUNNET listing and organiser's latest announcements before travelling.
