Event Detail
The 34th Kakamigahara City Marathon takes place on Sunday 7 March 2027 in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The event starts and finishes at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Hockey Stadium and includes a half marathon, 10K, competitive junior 3K and recreational 3K divisions. The half-marathon and 10K routes follow city roads and sections of the perimeter roads within Gifu Air Base, giving runners a rare opportunity to experience a restricted military facility as part of an organised road race.
The opening ceremony begins at 08:45 Japan time. The half marathon starts in two waves at 09:20 and 09:23; the 3K categories start from 09:26, and 10K waves depart at 10:15 and 10:18. The half marathon has a three-hour limit, with intermediate checkpoints. A total of 3,500 places are available across the race programme.
Participants must follow base security restrictions, stay on the marked route and obey photography limitations. Water and medical assistance are provided along the half-marathon and 10K courses. Race bibs containing timing sensors are scheduled to be posted in mid-February. No race-day registration is available.
Facilities include changing tents and paid baggage storage. Finishers can enjoy complimentary pork soup, and entrants can participate in a bib-number prize draw. A free shuttle links Kakamigahara-shiyakusho-mae Station to the stadium in approximately ten minutes. Parking is limited and subject to race-day restrictions. The organiser advises checking the official city website for any last-minute changes to routes or logistics.
