Event Detail
The 5th Nishio Marathon takes place on Sunday 17 January 2027 in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture. The full marathon starts at Nishio City Hall and finishes at Yokosuka Park, with an 8,000-runner capacity. The event also includes 5K and 2K races based at Yokosuka Park. It is part of the Marathon Challenge Cup programme and the Japan Castle Marathon campaign.
The 42.195K route links Nishio’s historic castle-town streets, tea-growing areas and coastal scenery around Mikawa Bay. Five parts of the course have been adjusted for the fifth edition, including the turnaround near 34 km. A railway crossing remains near 34 km and runners may be temporarily stopped for train movements. The marathon has a 6 hour 30 minute limit, and the organiser plans 13 aid stations along the course.
Official event material highlights local Nishio food and culture at aid stations, including regional specialties associated with matcha and eel. Full-marathon entrants choose one participant gift from selected local products, while marathon finishers receive a finish towel and web finisher certificate. Entrants in the 5K and 2K receive a commemorative event towel and web certificate. For the full marathon, baggage accepted in the organiser’s supplied bag is transported from the start area to the finish at Yokosuka Park; valuables are not accepted.
As of 1 October 2026, general marathon entry, Nishio resident entry, the souvenir package and the under-25 allocation are sold out. Hometown-tax marathon places remain available but are more than 80 percent subscribed. Some 5K high-school, 2K junior-high and 2K wheelchair places also remain. Registration is scheduled to close on 31 October 2026 or earlier when quotas fill. Athlete bibs and timing tags are normally mailed about three weeks before race day, so there is no compulsory pre-race expo check-in.
