Event Detail
The Asuka Half Marathon 2027 takes runners through the ancient capital landscapes of Asuka Village in Nara Prefecture, Japan. This established 21.0975 km road race starts at the Kitora Tumulus area and passes imperial burial mounds, archaeological sites, temples and distinctive rice terraces. Its historic surroundings and rolling hills make it a memorable event for runners interested in Japan's early history.
The race starts on Sunday 14 March 2027 at 9:00 am Japan time, with a 12:30 pm final cutoff and three intermediate checkpoints. Runners aged 18 and older must carry their own cup or bottle to use at aid stations. Race numbers, timing chips and participant gifts are mailed in advance; there is no on-site race packet collection. Changing areas open at 7:00 am and bag drop at 7:15 am. Entrants should arrive using public transport: the venue is around a 20-minute walk from Asuka Station, with no participant car parking.
General entries reached the 3,000-runner capacity and closed on 9 October 2026, before the originally advertised deadline. The remaining hometown-donation allocation closed on 16 October. Registration on RUNNET was limited to people resident in Japan. The published general entry fee was JPY 6,000 plus booking charges. Check the event website for its official course map, road restrictions and latest participant instructions.
