Event Detail
ISHIBUTAI 100 Trail Running Race returns to Asuka Village in Nara Prefecture on 30–31 January 2027. The Trailfest Running Company event is based at Asuka Kaze Butai, near the historic Ishibutai Kofun, and offers a challenging winter programme from a family run to long-distance mountain ultras.
Courses
The 120K begins at 09:00 Saturday and comprises three 40 km laps with about 7,800 metres of climbing. Its 29-hour time limit ends at 14:00 Sunday. It is planned as an unmarked race navigated using organiser GPX files, and applicants need a qualifying 100-mile finish or previous Ishibutai three-lap finish. The 100K begins at 09:30 Saturday, running four 25 km laps with 4,000 metres of ascent and a 28-hour-30-minute limit. The 50K starts at 09:45 Saturday, with two 25 km laps, 2,000 metres of climbing and a 12-hour limit. Sunday's 25K starts at 08:00 with a six-hour limit, while the 2.6K family race begins at 09:00 for children aged three to sixth grade, either alone or with a parent.
Preparation and support
The 100K and 120K include overnight running and allow drop bags. Shorter categories have no drop bag service. The organiser specifies mandatory hydration, safety and clothing equipment, with additional lighting and navigation requirements for the longer courses. The 120K has intermediate lap cut-offs at 19:00 Saturday and 05:00 Sunday. Routes and aid details remain subject to final race instructions.
Registration and travel
Late entries are accepted on Moshicom until 31 October 2026 at 23:59 Japan time, unless places fill sooner. Current fees for the 120K and family race are JPY 29,000 and JPY 2,500 respectively. Overseas entrants are welcome. Check-in takes place at Asuka Kaze Butai on the morning of each race.
