Event Detail
The 24th Ishigaki Island Marathon is a long-running destination race on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, returning on Sunday, 17 January 2027. The event starts and finishes at Ishigaki City Central Sports Park and combines a full marathon with a published 21.6 km half marathon, 10 km and a five-person 10 km relay. The relay is capped at 50 teams and the organiser announced on 8 September that this category had already reached capacity.
The full marathon starts at 09:00 JST and has a seven-hour limit, including intermediate limits of 3 hours 15 minutes at halfway and 5 hours 30 minutes at 34 km. The 10 km and relay start at 09:30 with two-hour limits, while the 21.6 km half marathon starts at 09:50 with a four-hour limit and a 15 km checkpoint limit of 2 hours 30 minutes.
Ishigaki is known for a warm subtropical climate, and the organiser highlights a one-way course without turnarounds, with deep green island scenery, ocean views and sea breeze along the route. Aid stations serve drinks and fruit as well as local products such as brown sugar and salt. After finishing, runners can use a free post-race bath and join an exchange area with food stalls, local performing arts, live island music and a prize draw.
Registration is online and runs from 20 August to 31 October 2026 unless a category fills earlier. Athlete bib collection is on Saturday, 16 January from 09:00 to 19:00 at the Ishigaki City General Gymnasium main arena. There is no need to invent a separate race-day expo: the official programme clearly designates the Saturday collection window.
ARC does not currently expose an exact 21.6 km distance option, so the official half marathon is documented here but is not incorrectly mapped to ARC's 21.1 km distance ID. The five-person relay is represented under the existing 10 km distance because the team total is exactly 10 km.
