Event Detail
Mie Matsusaka Marathon 2026 is the fifth edition of Mie Prefecture's full marathon, staged in Matsusaka on Sunday, 20 December. The event is built around a 10,000-runner 42.195K on a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified road course, with a 5K race for 1,000 runners and a 7K Health Walk for up to 2,000 participants. The marathon starts at 09:00 outside Kuragi Cultural Hall and finishes at Matsusaka City General Sports Park. The 5K starts at 10:00 from the sports park, while the Health Walk starts from Matsusaka Station South Exit.
The marathon links Matsusaka's historic city area with parkland, open roads and riverside sections. Current organiser material highlights local scenery and food, and the event again plans lighting and projection mapping through a tunnel section in the later part of the marathon. The course has a seven-hour limit and seven intermediate control points before the finish closes at 16:00.
Aid is planned at 16 marathon stations, beginning near 5K and then at roughly 2.5K intervals. Runners can leave non-valuables at the start in the supplied baggage bag for transport to the finish. There is no normal pre-race collection: bibs, timing chips, participant information and the marathon participation gift are mailed in advance. Changing facilities are provided at the finish.
General marathon entry was JPY 12,900 and registration closed on 31 July. Marathon participants receive the event commemorative T-shirt, and all entrants receive a JPY 500 hospitality ticket for the finish-area food and retail zone. Marathoners finishing within the official limit receive a finisher medal and towel, with web certificates available after the race. Overall marathon awards go eight deep for men and women, with additional age-group awards.
