Event Detail
Luang Prabang Half Marathon 2026 – Run for Children returns to the UNESCO World Heritage city of Luang Prabang, Laos, on Saturday, 24 October. The organiser expects around 3,000 participants for the 2026 edition, which it describes as the largest field in the event’s history. The event combines destination running through one of Southeast Asia’s best-known historic towns with fundraising for local healthcare.
The headline 21 km half marathon starts at 05:30 from the Royal Palace area. Official event material describes a route through the compact historic centre, past golden temples and along stretches beside the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. The programme also includes a 14 km race starting at 05:45 and a 7 km Run for Fun at 06:00, giving runners three ways to take part in the same race-morning programme. ARC currently has exact structured distance options for 21 km and 7 km but not 14 km, so the 14 km race is documented here rather than being mapped inaccurately.
Published international entry prices for the current edition are USD 60 for 21 km, USD 45 for 14 km and USD 30 for 7 km. The official international-registration page now states that international registrations are closed. Race packs include the participant bib, timing chip and event T-shirt. Collection is scheduled for 22–23 October, from 10:00 to 18:00, at Luang Prabang Preschool, with authorised representative collection permitted under the organiser’s rules.
Road closures for the event are scheduled for up to three and a half hours. Finishers receive a medal and electronic certificate. The top three runners in each published age category receive trophies; the organiser states that there are no additional winner prizes because the event is run as a fundraiser. Runners travelling to Luang Prabang should allow time for race-pack collection before the early Saturday-morning start and check the official event channels for any final traffic or race-day notices.
