Event Detail
Oyama Spring Marathon returns to Tochigi Prefecture on Sunday 4 April 2027, bringing runners of different ages together for a community-centred spring road-racing festival beside the Omoigawa River. The organisers are highlighting Oyama's rural scenery and locally cherished Omoigawa cherry blossoms. Although called a marathon, this edition's announced courses are 1km, 3km and 10km, not a full 42.2km marathon.
Race-day programme and format
Oyama General Park opens for runners at 6:30am, with an opening ceremony at 7:30am and the first race scheduled to start at 8:00am. Individual distance start times may be announced closer to the event. The short 1km course accommodates primary-school children, including a parent-and-child division for younger pupils; the organiser also allows grandparents to pair with children in that division. The 3km races cover junior-high pupils and age-group adult runners. The 10km caters to runners from high-school age upwards, with several adult age divisions. The official website provides separate course maps for all three distances.
Registration and race logistics
Entries are scheduled to open on 23 October 2026 and close on 31 January 2027. Bibs and timing tags are due to be posted to participants in late March. Results use gun-time chip timing, with digital result certificates made available after finishing; the top three finishers in each division receive awards. All entrants are also due to receive an original event towel by post. Entry fees have not yet been confirmed for this edition.
The meeting point is Oyama General Park at 371-1 Sotojo, Oyama City. Travellers can reach the area from JR Oyama Station by local bus. Important change: the 2027 race is on the first Sunday in April, rather than the event's usual second Sunday. Consult the organiser for confirmed individual wave times and any last-minute course or transport instructions.
