Event Detail

Saga Sakura Marathon 2027 is an established spring road-running event in Saga Prefecture with a 10,000-runner programme: an 8,500-place certified full marathon and a 1,500-place approximately 10 km Fun Run. A new 1.5 km Saga Style Run also joins the 2027 programme; because ARC has no exact 1.5 km distance, it is documented here rather than mapped to an inaccurate option.

The marathon starts in front of SAGA Sunrise Park on National Route 263 and finishes inside SAGA Stadium. The route passes the Saga Castle History Museum, crosses the flat Saga Plain into Kanzaki, runs through Yoshinogari Historical Park and returns via the Tafuse River corridor. The organiser describes the course as having only about 10 metres of elevation difference. The marathon has nine intermediate cut-off points and a 6 hour 30 minute limit; the Fun Run has a 1 hour 45 minute limit. Both start at 09:00 JST.

General entry opens at noon JST on 1 October 2026 and closes at 23:59 on 21 October, unless capacity is reached first. Overseas residents are directed to Run Japan. The 2027 edition introduces an athlete-bib-integrated timing chip for marathon runners, while faster entrants can request the S start block subject to verified qualifying performances.

Domestic entrants are scheduled to receive athlete bibs, marathon timing chips and participant items by post in late February. Overseas entrants use the SAGA Arena help desk for check-in on 20 March or before 08:00 on race morning. Current organiser guidance also provides changing and baggage arrangements at SAGA Arena and plans 16 water stations along the course. The event area is about a 20-minute walk from JR Saga Station or around 10 minutes by local bus.
