Event Detail

The fifth Skymark Presents Miyakojima City 17END Half Marathon in Irabu Island takes place on Sunday 8 November 2026 in Okinawa, Japan. Organised by Miyakojima City and its Board of Education, this destination road-running event showcases the clear-water coastlines of Irabu and Shimoji islands. The name 17END refers to the famously scenic shoreline beside the northern end of Shimojishima Airport's runway, where visitors can sometimes see aircraft approaching against a turquoise sea backdrop.

The course

All three routes start and finish at Heisei-no-Mori Park / Irabu Outdoor Sports Facility. The headline 21 km A course passes Toguchi Port, follows roads around Shimoji Island and turns around at Shiratori Cape before returning to the park. The 8 km B course heads along the Shimoji Island perimeter road, while the 2 km C course is a shorter run-or-walk through the Tida-no-Sato area. This is the organiser's advertised 21 km distance, rather than a claimed certified 21.0975 km half-marathon.

Race-day timetable

Runners should assemble by 7:30 am for the 7:45 am opening ceremony. The 8 km and 2 km courses start at 8:00 am, followed by the 21 km race at 8:30 am. The 8 km cut-off is 9:30 am and the 21 km cut-off is noon. The organiser lists capacities of 1,000 for the 21 km, 600 for the 8 km and 400 for the 2 km.

Registration and eligibility

General-entry registration has closed, as confirmed by the organiser on 9 September 2026. The original fees were ¥6,000 for the 21 km, ¥5,000 for the 8 km and ¥3,000 for the 2 km; lower rates applied to eligible younger entrants. The 21 km is for high-school students and older; younger runners may enter the 8 km under the organiser's age and guardian rules, and the 2 km welcomes runners and walkers of all ages. Parent or guardian consent is required for entrants of high-school age or younger.

Bib collection and travel

Bib collection is on Saturday 7 November, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, at Shimojishima Airport Terminal. There is no race-day bib collection. Bring the participation notification postcard. The organiser lists the race venue as roughly a 10-minute drive from Shimojishima Airport or 40 minutes from Miyako Airport via Irabu Bridge. Check its published parking map and traffic restrictions before travelling. The entry package lists a commemorative T-shirt and race number.
