Event Detail
The Suzuki Ayuko Cup Honokuni Toyohashi Half Marathon 2027 is the 17th edition of Toyohashi’s established spring half marathon and the fourth edition to carry the name of Toyohashi-born Olympic marathoner Ayuko Suzuki. The race is capped at 5,000 runners and takes place on Sunday, 21 March 2027, starting at 10:00 JST from Toyohashi City Track and Field Stadium.
The headline race covers 21.0975 km on a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified road course that starts and finishes inside the stadium. The route showcases several sides of Toyohashi: runners pass through the central city where sections run alongside the city’s streetcars, continue through cherry-blossom-lined streets and northern rural scenery with views towards Mt Ishimaki, and use sections beside the Toyokawa River before returning to Toyohashi Park. The official course map remains subject to final confirmation in the runner guide.
The overall time limit is three hours from the gun, with intermediate course checkpoints also enforced. Entry is open to men and women aged 18 or older on race day who can complete the course within that limit. Both JAAF-registered and non-registered runners may enter. The standard entry fee is JPY 7,500, excluding the registration-system fee and any optional add-ons. General entry opens at noon on 6 October 2026 and is scheduled to close at 23:59 JST on 30 November 2026, or earlier if the 5,000-runner capacity is reached.
Timing-chip athlete bibs are sent to runners in advance rather than collected at a conventional expo. Participants receive an original BEAMS SPORTS event T-shirt; the participant-award exchange is planned near the stadium from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday, 20 March, or from 07:30 to 09:15 on race morning. All finishers receive an electronic result certificate, while eligible JAAF-registered runners can request an official certified record certificate after the race for an additional fee.
Overall awards go to the top eight women and top eight men, with additional Ayuko Suzuki spot prizes planned for the 88th and 888th finishers in both overall gender classifications. The event is organised by Toyohashi City, the Toyohashi City Sports Association, Aichi Athletics Association and Chunichi Shimbun, with Higashi-Mikawa Athletics Association supervising race operations.
