Event Detail
Yukuhashi Sea Side Half Marathon 2027 is an established coastal road-running event in Yukuhashi, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, on Sunday 31 January. The main half marathon follows a Japan Association of Athletics Federations-certified route from Yukuhashi Comprehensive Park towards the area around Tsuiki Air Base. The programme also includes a 5 km road race and a 2.5 km race for schoolchildren. The shorter courses loop around Minoshima, while the half marathon travels further along the coast.
The course passes views of Nagaihama's shallow beach, the former residence of Morita Minosu and the historic Inado No. 1 aircraft shelter. At around 17 km, the half marathon crosses Chouju Ohashi, a bridge leading to an island-style fishing harbour. The coastal setting and local hospitality distinguish this race from Japan's larger urban events.
The half marathon starts at 09:30 Japan Standard Time, followed by the 5 km at 09:40 and 2.5 km at 09:45. The half marathon has a 2-hour-40-minute limit and five intermediate checkpoints. The 5 km limit is 40 minutes, while the 2.5 km limit is 20 minutes. The organiser has set a maximum of 2,000 half-marathon entrants and 300 entrants for each shorter race.
Race bibs and timing chips are expected by post in early January, so participants must bring them on race day. The civic gymnasium at the park handles T-shirt distribution and baggage drop between 06:30 and 08:30. Runners can enjoy refreshments on the course and local oyster soup and rice balls afterwards.
Free race-day shuttle buses are scheduled from the east side of JR Yukuhashi Station to the park from 06:30 to 08:00, with return trips planned from 11:00 to 14:00. Allow about 25 minutes each way and check the organiser's final instructions before travelling.
The 2.5 km school race costs JPY 2,000 for primary pupils or JPY 2,500 for junior-high pupils; ARC has no exact 2.5K distance option.
