Alor Setar Duo Relay 2026

Alor Setar Duo Relay 2026 brings a two-person relay and a separate individual 5 km option to Dataran Medan Bandar in Alor Setar, Kedah, on Saturday, 5 December 2026. Organised through the Kaki Running / Northern Runners event platform, the race has a teamwork theme: "Pass the baton, share the victory." The organiser's original promotional artwork confirms a 7:15 am Malaysia-time flag-off, with the event venue operating from about 7:00 am until 9:30 am.

Two-person relay: 5K plus 5K

The headline event is a two-runner relay. Runner one covers 5 km and passes the baton to runner two for a further 5 km, giving each team a combined 10 km effort. This differs from a conventional individual 10 km race: neither relay participant needs to complete the full 10 km. Teams should agree on their running order in advance and follow final instructions for the baton exchange zone, bib allocation and any holding area.

The organiser's official race-shirt design also advertises a separate individual 5 km run, allowing people to participate without finding a teammate. The two formats share a running theme and event location but should not be conflated when comparing results or interpreting distances.

Team divisions and trophies

Competitive relay teams can register for Men's Open, Women's Open or Mixed Team categories. The organiser advertises trophies for the top ten in these three team divisions. The poster does not establish a separate individual 5K awards schedule or a cash-prize list, so none is assumed here.

The event is promoted as a lively community running morning in Alor Setar, with a team atmosphere and a baton handover as the central challenge. The official promotional designs prominently feature the city's architecture and landmarks, including the historical centre around Medan Bandar.

What runners should know

The organiser lists tickets from RM35, but the available public webpage does not break that figure down by individual-versus-team entry. Do not assume RM35 covers both teammates or assign that amount to a particular category without checking the live registration checkout. The final registration deadline and refund or transfer policy also require confirmation from the organiser.

The published official event T-shirt is predominantly black and red with a large Alor Setar Duo Relay logo and a "Run Together, Finish Together" message. The artwork presents both front and back designs. Details of finisher medals, runner bibs, refreshments, race-pack collection, route-map measurements and exact relay-exchange arrangements were not available in the organiser's public text at the time of listing; these are not promised without evidence.

Venue and travel

The starting area is Dataran Medan Bandar, the public square by Masjid Zahir, the Royal Hall and Kedah State Art Gallery. This is an accessible landmark in historic central Alor Setar, rather than the Kedah countryside. The listing map coordinates indicate the square itself, not a verified start gantry or baton handover point.

Runners should arrive early enough for briefing and warm-up before the official 7:15 am flag-off. In Malaysia's humid conditions, carry water as appropriate and follow the marshals' route directions. Team entrants should make sure both members know how to reach the handover zone and where they will meet after finishing.
