The inaugural Malaysia Marathon took place on 30 August 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, during Malaysia's National Day celebrations. An unusual city-centre marathon
The full 42K course began around midnight near Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, used the Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH) and finished at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) precinct. The 5K started near the PETRONAS Twin Towers, with Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi officiating its flag-off. RTM reported around 10,000 5K participants and a one-kilometre Jalur Gemilang procession by about 1,000 students. Media coverage also noted two humanoid robots completing 5K and 10K distances.
